Dr. Weitzman's Lincoln

Display Pavilion,
Rechovot, completed 2003

This pavilion displays and protects an antique automobile: Chaim Weitzman's "Lincoln Cosmopolitan," given to him by Henry Ford. The pavilion is a climate-controlled, glass-walled room, around which visitors to the Weitzman Institute may walk and view the automobile. As highly machined as Weitzman's car, the Pavilion affords a 360-degree view of the automobile within. The manufactured quality of the pavilion sits in contrast to its surroundings, designed in years past to affect a rustic character. The glass-and-steel pavilion sits on a base of field stone.
