Hillel Schocken

Principal

Hillel has been Principal at Schocken Architects since its establishment in 1978 leading projects in a large variety of building types and programs including Urban Planning, Museums, Educational facilities,  Offices, Housing, Industry and Conservation. Prior to his obtaining his diploma of the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London he earned a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.

Under Hillel's Direction SA won high esteem among professional peers for the high quality of work produced. Hillel is held in high regard with officials in local authorities throughout the country. He served in various juries for The Azrieli Prize for Urbanism of the Council for Beautiful Israel, the  Emet Prize for The Arts, Sciences and Culture, Under the auspices of the Israel Prime Minister’s office, the Landau Prize for Urban Studies, Mifal Hapais (Israel Lotary) as well as architectural competitions. In parallel to his professional activity, Hillel is a Professor of Architecture at the Azrieli School of Architecture at the Tel Aviv University and served as its director between 2004 and 2008. Throughout his career he has been teaching in Architecture schools throughout the country as well as abroad.  

Hillel is among the founders and member of the Board at  MIU – Movement for Israeli Urbanism and Chairman of the Board of directors of the Israel Stage Orchestra.
