Observation Towers

Open Museum,
Peace Forest,
Jerusalem, completed 1995

These poetic structures comprise an "open air museum," set in the evocative landscape of the Jerusalem Forest, to the south of the historic center of Jerusalem. Designed as an additional attraction for visitors to the Haas and Sherover promenades, this open-air museum directs visitors' attention to elements in the far landscape which have special historical importance.

The design of each pavilion evokes architectural and the material "connotations" present in our memory of specific periods in the last century of Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel.

Each pavilion is intended to stand alone, as a didactic element in the museum. Yet, in addition, each pavilion maintains a reciprocal relationship with Jerusalem's natural and urban landscape.
